2. What data we collect

2.1 Account data

• Email address (for login and communication)
• Password (stored encrypted)

2.2 Learning content and progress

• Vocabulary and grammar lists, folders and notes you create yourself
• Learning progress and settings (e.g. speed, direction)
• For courses: enrolments and progress; for teachers: the course content they create

2.3 Microphone / speech input (optional)

The microphone is used only for the pronunciation check. Speech recognition is performed by the operating system’s speech recognition (Apple); audio data may be transmitted to Apple for recognition. We do not store any audio recordings on our servers.

2.4 Text input for translation & pronunciation

When you request translations or have words read out, the relevant texts are transmitted to translation or text-to-speech services for processing (see section 4). Only the text to be translated or read out is transmitted — not your identity.

3. How we use data

• Providing the learning features (training, audio, pronunciation, courses)
• Synchronising your content between your devices and (if enabled) within your learning/family group
• Account management and support

We do not use your data for advertising or tracking, and we do not sell it.

4. Services used (processors)

• Supabase (hosting in the EU): authentication and storage of account and learning data. (Privacy)
• Our own server (netcup, Germany): language analysis (part of speech/gender) and a proxy for text-to-speech; processes the transmitted texts.
• Google: machine translation and text-to-speech for the texts you enter. (Privacy)
• Apple: App Store purchase/processing and speech recognition (speech-to-text). (Privacy)
• Expo / EAS: app delivery and updates. (Privacy)
• RevenueCat (only if in-app purchases are enabled): managing purchase unlocks. (Privacy)

5. Sharing of data

Data is shared only with the service providers listed above in order to provide the features, and where legally required. Shared learning content is visible only to the authorised members of your learning/family group.

6. Your rights (GDPR)

• Access to the data stored about you
• Rectification of incorrect data
• Erasure of your data and your account
• Data portability (export)
• Objection to / restriction of processing

7. Data security

• Encrypted data transmission (TLS/SSL)
• Access control via row-level security (everyone sees only their own or shared data)
• Authentication via Supabase Auth

8. Retention period

Your data is stored for as long as your account exists. On deletion, personal data is removed promptly (within 30 days at the latest).

9. Minors

Minors may use the app only with the consent of a parent or guardian. We do not knowingly collect data from children without such consent.

10. Changes

We may amend this privacy policy. We will point out any material changes in the app or on the website.
